Incumbent Democratic Senator Gary Forby of Benton and Republican challenger Mark Minor of Ewing are interviewed by Jak Tichenor of WSIU Public Television, Jennifer Fuller of WSIU Radio, and Caleb Hale of the Southern Illinoisan.
The candidates will share their views on Governor Pat Quinn's decision to close the Tamms Correctional Center and other local state facilities, dealing with the state's $83-billion unfunded pension liability, balancing the state budget, fracking, and the future of concealed carry legislation in Illinois.
Senator Forby, a Franklin County farmer and small business owner, served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2001-2003 and has represented the 59th Senate District in Springfield since 2003.
