Bio Blitz
In the second segment, we meet with representatives of Clifftop, a non-profit preservation organization, to discuss a wildlife observation project at Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve in Monroe County, Illinois. The observation project, or BioBlitz, was performed by a group of 50 scientists of varying specializations who observed and recorded all living things in the 750-acre reserve over a 24-hour period. Maintaining biological diversity among native species is a critical factor in helping to maintain the health and sustainability of the region's bluff land ecosystem. BioBlitz is designed to fill in knowledge gaps about the variety of species in our area.
