Carbondale, Ill. – WVSI 88.9 FM, a public radio service of WSIU Public Broadcasting at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is back on the air after experiencing a loss of power at the station's transmitter in Mt. Vernon last night.

WSIU's engineering staff have temporarily restored the station to full power using an alternate configuration and have ordered parts to complete needed repairs at the transmitter site. Updates about the station's on-air status over the next few days will be posted to wsiu.org or listeners may call (618) 453-6101.

WUSI 90.3 FM in Olney and WSIU 91.9 FM Carbondale were not impacted by the outage.
