Carbondale, Ill. -- Cleaning out your closets, attic, or garage this summer? Donate your old record albums, CDs, DVDs, eight-track tapes, cassettes, VHS tapes, electronic games, and working stereo equipment for a public sale in September to benefit the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS), a service of WSIU Public Radio and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
WSIU, in partnership with the University Mall in Carbondale, will host the 4th Annual SIRIS Classic Vinyl & Media Sale on Saturday, September 10 from 10am to 9pm and Sunday, September 11 from noon to 6pm. The sale will be located next to Hot Topic at the University Mall.
Music donations of rock, country western, jazz, and blues would be most welcome, as these genres are very popular at the annual sale. All music and equipment donations must be in good condition and will be accepted now through Friday, August 19 at the following locations:
• University Mall Information Center, 1237 East Main, Carbondale
• SIU Credit Union, 1217 West Main, Carbondale
• SIU Credit Union, 395 North Giant City Road, Carbondale
• SIU Credit Union, 2809 Outer Drive, Marion
• Lyn-Nita Winery, 514 Coal Road, Elkville
• DuQuoin Public Library, 28 S. Washington, DuQuoin
• Wright Do-It Center, 208 South Williams, Murphysboro
All proceeds from the sale will benefit SIRIS, a radio information service for individuals who are blind or whose physical condition makes reading difficult or impossible. Broadcasts include regional and national newspapers and magazines, book reviews, and more. SIRIS is supported in part by the United Way.
Questions about the sale should be directed to Vickie Devenport at (618) 453-6148, email@example.com or by calling SIRIS at (618) 453-2808 between 1pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
