Carbondale, IL - Some television viewers may be experiencing difficulty receiving WSIU TV 8's over-the-air digital signal, reports WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). On February 3, 2009 WSIU-TV moved its over-the-air DTV signal from UHF channel 40 to VHF channel 8. The WSIU Radio transmitter is located on SIUC's campus and may interfere with over-the-air reception for up to a two-mile radius from the transmitter. The area mainly affected includes homes located north of Chautauqua Road from Oakland Avenue to the east and Tower Road to the west.
Viewers located in west Carbondale only are affected by this issue. For more information regarding solutions, contact Chester Hood at WSIU-TV calling (618) 453-4343.
