“WSIU is honored to host the return of Michael Feldman and Whad'Ya Know to Southern Illinois,” said Jeff Williams, General Manager and News & Public Affairs Director of WSIU Public Radio, “This is the show's second visit to Carbondale and to Shryock Auditorium, having hosted a live performance here in 1998. Whad'Ya Know is a long time favorite with our listeners, and I couldn't be more excited about the show's return. It's a wonderful opportunity for people to see and participate in live radio at its best!”

In keeping with the Whad'Ya Know? road show tradition, the live show will take on a local flair, featuring Feldman's take on “All The Southern Illinois News That Isn't,” along with Feldman's interviews of Southern Illinoisans and special guests, performances by local musicians, and more.

Host Michael Feldman is a self-described “20-year overnight sensation” in the world of public radio. He made his radio debut in 1965 when his winning entry in an essay contest earned him an appearance on a radio program in Milwaukee. After working as a high school English teacher for eight years, he drove a cab and became a volunteer DJ on Madison's WORT-FM, hosting Thanks for Calling and later producing his own show, The Breakfast Special.

Feldman moved to Wisconsin Public Radio in 1985 and began Whad'Ya Know?, which immediately attracted both critical acclaim and a loyal coast-to-coast audience. Subsequently, he wrote three "highly praised and widely ignored" books: the autobiographical Whad'Ya Know?, published in 1991; Whad'Ya Knowledge?, published in 1993; Thanks for the Memos in 1995, a compilation of actual memos sent in by his listeners; and most recently Glad You Asked. He has also released six compact discs, in cooperation with Nimbus Records, titled Whad'Ya Know? About the Classics.
