Carbondale, Ill. -- Looking for a turn table or eight-track tape player - or a vintage copy of your favorite record album?
Find your treasure at the 3rd Annual SIRIS Classic Vinyl & Media Sale on Saturday, September 11 from 10am until 9pm in the storefront next to Hot Topic in the University Mall, 1237 East Main in Carbondale. Items that do not sell on Saturday will be sold at half-price on Sunday, September 12 from noon to 6pm. The Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS) and WSIU Public Radio, a public broadcasting arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), are hosting the sale, with the support of the University Mall.
From world music to classical, rock to R & B, country to soul, reggae to folk, and children's music to comedy, shoppers can expect to find record albums from a broad range of musical genres. Collectible albums will be featured in a special section and will be priced accordingly; other albums are priced at $1.00 each. Additional items for sale include CDs; DVDs; VHS and cassettes; 8-tracks, 78s, and 45s; audio books; and stereo equipment, including turntables, tuners, and speakers. CDs are just $2, and DVDs are priced at $3.00 each. Prices are below $1.00 for other items, and buyers will find excellent deals throughout the event.
Volunteers are needed! If you'd like to volunteer to sort records, assist on sale day, or help to clean up, please join us at the sale location in University Mall on the following dates:
Sort records: Monday, August 30 to Friday, September 3, 5-8pm; Monday, September 6 to Thursday, September 9, 5-8pm; and Friday, September 10, 5-10pm

All proceeds from the sale will benefit SIRIS, a community service of WSIU Public Radio and SIUC for individuals who are blind or whose physical condition makes reading difficult or impossible. Broadcasts include regional and national newspapers and magazines, book reviews, and more. SIRIS is supported in part by the United Way.
Questions about the sale and volunteering should be directed to Vickie Devenport at (618) 453-6148, firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling SIRIS at 453-2808.
