Carbondale, IL - Reporters, camera crews, and photographers are invited to cover the performance of Native American storyteller Robert Lewis this Thursday, November 19 at 7pm in Ballroom B of the SIUC Student Center. The performance is sponsored by WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and the Shawnee National Forest. This event is presented in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
Lewis has been delighting audiences with his colorful Native stories and folklore since 2003. He makes his performances an interactive experience by inviting audience members onstage to appear as characters from traditional Cherokee stories. Children, college students, and seniors act out specific parts of the performances, with Lewis's instruction. Currently, Lewis serves as a School and Community specialist from the Cherokee Nation, headquartered in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and specializes in conducting outreach classes and services in Art and Storytelling for the Nation's Education Department.
Robert Lewis will be available for media interviews from 6-6:30pm on November 19 at the location of the performance. To arrange a time for an interview with Lewis, please contact Vickie Devenport at (618) 453-6148 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
