WSIU's 2010 PBS KIDS KIDS GO! Story Contest was sponsored regionally this year by Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon and My Favorite Toys at Carbondale's University Mall. The annual writing contest helps children in grades K-3 to develop their literacy skills while creating their own storybooks. WSIU was one of 87 public television stations across the country who participated in this year's contest. Over 250 children across the region submitted stories.
Produced by WNED-TV Buffalo/Toronto and PBS, the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest is part of PBS KIDS Raising Readers, a national initiative that uses the power of public media to build the reading skills of young children, with an emphasis on children from at-risk families. WSIU is a Raising Readers station.
