Carbondale, Ill. -- See and hear the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) campus in a different light by joining Dave Armstrong, host of the local experimental music program Sounds Like Radio on WSIU Public Radio, for a Fall Campus Soundwalk on Saturday, October 23 at 10:30am. Participants should meet Armstrong outdoors at the North End of the SIUC Student Center. The soundwalk will take participants both indoors and outdoors, and should last a little over one hour.
Soundwalks celebrate the practice of listening as it relates to the world around us, environmental awareness, and acoustic ecology. They can include audio tours, sound performances, and sound art installations.
Sounds Like Radio is a two-hour program on WSIU Radio featuring experimental music, avant-garde works, sound art, and field recordings. Listen on Sundays from 3-5am and again from 10pm-12am. Send your music suggestions and questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
