Carbondale, Ill. - Reporters, camera crews, and photographers are invited to cover the 4th Annual Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival, which will run from Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10 in the city's historic riverfront district.
WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will feature a “Share a Story” recording booth on Saturday, April 9 from 10am until 3pm. Visitors should look for the station's canopy and colorful PBS KIDS Literacy Van near the tent on Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus.
Guests who spin their tales at WSIU's story booth will receive a CD copy of their recording as a keepsake, along with educational materials and other WSIU items. WSIU Radio will feature the recorded stories and a photo of each storyteller online at www.wsiu.org at a later date. To listen to stories recorded at the festival in previous years, select the “Storytelling” feature from the rotating spotlight on WSIU's homepage at wsiu.org.
Festival hours for the 2011 Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival are 9am to 9pm on April 8, 10am to 9pm on April 9, and 9am to 4pm on April 10. This year's master storytellers are Bil Lep, Willy Claflin, Elizabeth Ellis, Rev. Robert Jones, Kathleen Brinkmann, and Linda Dust.
